“it should come as no surprise that when raf simons finally got round to designing footwear, he created a baseball boot. his love of the naughtier, scruffier side of youth culture has brightened up the catwalks since his debut collection in 1995. and his structured strapped creation promises good things to come from simon’s diversification. just don’t expect him to go too fast. as robbie, simons’ assistant and muse, told us, ‘the new collection needed shoes, so raf came up with one. everybody is always asking for shoes – and a women’s collection. we can only do one thing at a time, so the shoes came first.’ better luck next time, ladies.”
